What To Do If a Puppy Bites You
✅ Wash wound with soap + running water for 15 minutes
✅ Apply povidone-iodine if available
✅ Observe the puppy for 10 days (if healthy, no rabies risk)
✅ If it’s your healthy indoor puppy → no rabies vaccine needed
⚠️ If it’s a stray/unknown dog → follow full rabies PEP protocol
If You’re Already Vaccinated
- If you completed a rabies vaccine course in the last 6–12 months → you’re protected.
- Only 2 booster doses (Day 0 & Day 3) are needed if bitten by a suspicious stray dog.
- For a healthy home puppy → no booster required.
