On the 101st birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the Delhi government on Thursday introduced the Atal Canteen Scheme, launching 45 Atal canteens across the capital to serve nutritious meals for just Rs 5.
The scheme was formally inaugurated at an Atal Canteen located near Apna Bazaar in Nehru Nagar, Lajpat Nagar, in the presence of Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Urban Development Minister Ashish Sood.
The government has confirmed plans to expand the network to 100 canteens within the next 15–20 days to further increase accessibility for citizens across Delhi.

Timming of Meals at Atal canteen
Atal canteen will serve lunch from 11.30 am to 2 pm and dinner from 6.30 pm to 9 pm.
What is included in Meals?
The standard meal of around 600 grams includes roti, dal or pulses, seasonal vegetables, rice and pickle, delivering 700–800 calories and 20–25 grams of protein.
