“Assistance from GOI under ESVHD-2010-11” refers to the Establishment & Strengthening of Veterinary Hospitals & Dispensaries (ESVHD) scheme launched by the Government of India in 2010–11.
It was designed to enhance veterinary infrastructure across the country setting up new facilities, upgrading existing ones and even investing in Mobile Veterinary Units (MVUs) to extend animal healthcare to remote areas.

Key Highlights of the ESVHD Initiative

  • Infrastructure Empowerment
Funds were used to construct new veterinary hospitals and dispensaries or upgrade existing ones with improved buildings, modern equipment and diagnostic labs.
  • Mobile Veterinary Units (MVUs)
A standout feature: Custom-built vans staffed with veterinarians and equipped for minor treatment and diagnosis. These MVUs deliver veterinary services directly to farmers’ doorsteps, transforming access to animal care in rural areas.
  • Funding Patterns
    The scheme’s funding varied:
    • 100% central assistance: Union Territories and non-recurring expenses for MVUs.
    • States (non-hilly): 60% Central – 40% State funding.
    • Hilly & North-Eastern States: 90% Central – 10% State.
This ensured equity in support even in remote regions.

Why It Matters for You (and Pet Owners)

  • Enhanced Infrastructure—if your local veterinary hospital benefited from the ESVHD scheme, it likely means better facilities, equipment and treatment capabilities.
  • Mobile Reach—access to veterinary care may have been boosted if MVUs were deployed in your area.
  • Trust & Reliability—the involvement of GOI funding adds credibility and suggests quality-driven upgrades.

Example: Guwahati Vet Hospital

If the Guwahati vet hospital’s board states “Assistance from GOI under ESVHD-2010-11”, that means it received central support for infrastructure improvements – potentially upgraded facilities and better veterinary equipment under this nationwide scheme.
